I love this! It is so funny yet so dark and ominous. I think you did a great job creating a really funny, strange, and effective video in a short little clip! The sound edits give it a really surreal and kind of extra bizarre layer, and make me both very concerned for this poor dead woman and also just really entertained. I totally found myself laughing to this, even more than I thought I was going to! I think we talked in person about how this kind of relates to the book Infinite Jest by Davide Foster Wallace- which brings me to think that a really interesting project for kids would be to create a video off of a (scene from a) book that they really like! I feel like they could get super into it, and it could be easily translated to any age. Anyway- awesome job, I love it!!
That hyena laugh! It is terrifying, but so funny. I agree with Stephanie, you did so much in such a short clip. The delivery of your voice over is also hilarious. I think it's interesting how most of chose to recreate a comedic video. It shows how well the medium lends itself to humor. I think it would be really interesting to connect a video unit in the art classroom to humorous works of art in other mediums.
This is an article titled, "The unforgiving humor of John Baldessari", https://www.artspace.com/magazine/art_101/close_look/close_look_john_baldessari-51852 It has a link to this weird video of John Baldessari singing Sol Le Witt haha. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q6eSfKeJ_VM
You did a really great job filming and editing the video. The sound was amazing. I agree with Eva that the voice you used was very fitting for the clip. The hyena's laugh was excellent and unexpected. I am curious to why you chose that laugh out of others. It was also seamless and poignant. This would be fun to do with children. I am also curious to what the joke was.
I liked your version even better than the original!! The sound effects that you used in the laughing portion gave it a twist from the original. It is almost like a remixed version, using sound techniques to alter the quality and feeling of the video. In such a short clip you were able to create a mood and feeling that captured my attention and made me want to watch it again! I like how you took a longer video and created a short and simple recreation.
