Assignment 2/2- On/off experiment, part 1

My On/off experiment was quite unexpected. I turned off my phone this Sunday, February 4th for the extent of 4 hours while being in the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA). I wanted to experience the place, which was very packed by being a rainy afternoon. By noticing the paintings and images around me the main thing that stranded out is how little people appreciate the works of art that are in front of them, the only thing they want is a snapshot for the future self.

This project became me standing behind visitors who took pictures of works, create quick gestures, that I would later sit in front of the artwork snapped to add other elements once the person was out of my sight. I don’t have anything with collecting images, but some sculptures and paintings have to be appreciated by the awe they were intended to expose. I found this time to be a quiet one in my head, but dense as well by the gravity of others just swinging by and doing rows and rows to take an image of Starry Night, by Van Gogh for example.
